Q: Why do you call your organization “Jesus Mission”?

A: Well, in John 20:20, Jesus says: “As the Father has sent me, even so I send you.” Father has sent Jesus with a mission and he accomplished that mission in His way. Now Jesus is sending his disciples to accomplish the mission, or asking them to realize the mission, which he accomplished on the cross. So we have given a mission to accomplish! That is the mission of Jesus, or, it is Jesus’ mission. We have to accomplish in the Jesus way, of the cross! Therefore, Jesus Mission is dedicated to accomplish Jesus’ mission in Jesus way!

Q: What is Yeeshu Sangh?

A: Yeeshu Sangh and Jesus Mission are same in essence and function. We started our ministry in Kerala (1984) as “Jesus Mission.” That time it was a small band of young people who were doing evangelistic works (street meetings, small conventions, door to door evangelism). It was initiated by Saju John Mathew, who was a student evangelist in those days. We extended the ministry to North India by 1994. God made the work grow, and we needed to register it with the government. Yeeshu Sangh is a Hindi name which we opted for registering our society nationally in 2005. We are a nationally registered society with the Registrar of Societies, Govt of NCT Delhi (No: S-53283/2005) having our registered office in New Delhi. We do not have any other nationally registered society/trust, either named “Jesus Mission” or in any other name. So all our official matters are dealt with the Yeeshu Sangh registration, as that is the platform for us to deal with the government. Even we keep all financial accounting through the Yeeshusangh bank accounts. The financial dealings are transparent, audited and submitted to the government periodically.

Q: Do North Indians work with you as missionaries? Or, Is Jesus Mission only a group of South Indian missionaries?

A: It is true that Jesus Mission originated from South India. However, we knew that God wanted us to work among the natives of the places where God has placed us. So, we usually concentrate our work among the natives. We were praying that God would raise native workers, and God is faithful. He has given us people who have committed their lives for the ministry from the natives. Thank God, even though we have cross cultural missionaries from South, God has given many from the respective fields as our co-workers as missionaries. Now, more than half of our missionaries are from the natives, and their number is increasing. God has given us wonderful native brothers as leaders in the respective fields. So, it is no more just a “south Indian stuff,” but a native movement.

Q: What is your faith affirmation? Are you Trinitarian in faith or are you ‘Jesus’ only?

A: We affirm the Faith of the Early Church and we are Trinitarian in belief.

Q: How can we help you in your ministry?

A: Most of us work in pioneer fields. If God gives a burden in your heart, you can certainly start praying for us. You can visit us some time and spend few days with our missionaries. That will certainly be an encouragement for our missionaries. You may support the ministry financially, if God gives a burden in your heart. However, we are looking for “partnership” from you, not just “sponsorship.” We will be happy to provide the needed information to help you to pray more meaningfully for us.
